Schindler Update 2009_07_03
July 3, 2009
Dear faithful supporters,
Greetings from Taipei! Happy 4th of July weekend! We’re sure many of you are gearing up for picnics, BBQ’s, and fireworks with friends and family. It obviously isn’t a celebrated holiday here, but we are taking Saturday evening and all day Sunday to have a little celebration of our own. We, along with 2 good American friends, are heading to a beach in the very North of Taiwan. We plan to enjoy the time playing games, reading, swimming, and just taking a break from the responsibilities of normal life. The last month has been a busy one, but full of God’s blessings and provisions.
Prayer Requests:
- The Alpha course at church is going very well. So far each weekend about 60 Seekers have attended. Since it is all in Chinese, we are only helpers in groups, but it has been a great experience. Continue to pray for hearts to be open!
- From July 2-11 (except the 4th and 5th) we are teaching a Bible summer camp to junior high and high school students. We have about 20 kids attending and are praying that many of them can understand more about Jesus through this camp. One girl, Fabiana, is especially interested in being a Christian so pray for wisdom as we talk with her.
- We continue to need monthly support. Please pray for our remaining need of $580/month.
Praises:
- Our Chinese language study is going very well. We have a wonderful teacher and are enjoying the challenges learning this language brings. Praise God for the strength and understanding He gives us.
- Praise the Lord for the wonderful friends He has provided for us here. As we both celebrated birthdays this last Wednesday (yes, we were both born on July 1st), we were humbled again at the love and kindness of our Taiwanese friends. They truly are like family to us and are a consistent source of encouragement.
Thank you for your emails, cards, and prayers on our behalf. We thank the Lord for faithful people like you who are our strong support thousands of miles away. Remember to keep checking www.crossing7.com/reactaiwan for pictures and more frequent updates!
For the Glory of God,
