Kelley did an excellent job enthusing the crowds about a getting-to-know-you bingo icebreaker, which was good fun. Everybody took part trying to fill out their bingo cards with people's names and, as time ticked away, social niceties were entirely dispensed with; opening conversational gambits soon consisted of, "Do you have more than two cell phones?!" or, "Do you have a Mac computer?!"
Julianne and John performed with aplomb an amusing sketch penned by Rick, which led into the introductory Alpha talk. Erich's talk was a really great overview of Christianity and what is going to be covered in the talks to come. The discussion time afterwards seemed to go well for each group and people seemed to feel free to share what they felt about the talk.
There was positive feedback from many of the attendees. One girl, not yet a believer, said she'd been to several different churches and normally finds them to be just like going to school. But coming to Alpha was the most interesting and fun experience she'd had at a church and she wanted to come back next week.
On Friday 12th March Truth Church's Bilingual Alpha Course officially kicked off. The fourth floor of Truth Church was soon filled with people milling about and enjoying food together. As well they might, for the food was delicious! All in all there were around 45 non-believers taking part. Most were Taiwanren but America, The Gambia, Czech Republic and South Korea were also represented, meaning an extra English-speaking discussion group.
