Example 1-year Plan
In order to help you know better what to expect during your year in Taiwan we have created this page with a sample 1-year plan. This is not a definitive plan, just an example of what your year could look like, as some items are flexible.
Months 1-3: Getting Settled In

Getting a cell phone (your Taiwanese buddy can help with this)

Opening a bank account (your Taiwanese buddy can help with this)

Beginning to integrate relationally into Truth Church (forming friendships with Taiwanese people, getting to know the community of foreigners at Truth Church)

Learning to find your way around Taipei city (subway system, buses, taxis, learning major roads, etc… - your Taiwanese buddy can help with this)

Starting Chinese classes (highly recommended!) - your Taiwanese buddy can help you practice

Renting an apartment and apartment set-up (buying appliances, possibly furniture, decorations, etc… - your Taiwanese buddy can help with this)

Finding a teaching job

Weekend Culture Training done by the Crossing 7 Team

Studying Taiwanese (church) culture through focused observation and asking questions

Observing English ministry at Truth Church; meeting with ministry leaders to see where you could fit in

Ongoing mentoring by a more experienced missionary (couple)
Months 4-9: Stable Life and Ministry

Taking a more active leadership role in English ministry at Truth Church

Ongoing prayer as to your future direction (staying or leaving?)
Months 9-12: Phasing out or a New Commitment
If you are leaving Taiwan after one year:

Ongoing Chinese classes

Beginning to slowly emotionally pull out of relationships (this is a natural process of saying good-bye)

Finishing your English teaching responsibilities well

Closing down your bank account, cell phone contract, apartment rental

Departure
If you are committing to another year in Taiwan (we hope so :)
- Ongoing Chinese classes (intensive classes recommended during the slower Summer months of July - August)
- Moving into more leadership at church
- Planning for another ministry season
- Changing your teaching job if necessary
